DISTRICT / SITE
MUSEUMS
Another major
function of the Dept. is to establish
the district Museums as well as the Site
Museums wherever required to educate and
to explain the cultural heritage to the
common man by displaying different
artefacts like stone sculptures,
bronzes, coins, paintings, arms and
weapons, ornaments, dresses etc. The
museums, needless to say are fruits of
centuries of collections by connoisseurs
of art. The collection normally reflects
the cultural heritage of a given country
or a region. The Dept. so far has
established 13 District Museums at
Vijayawada, Guntur, Rajahmundry,
Kakinada, Vizag,, Nellore, Cuddapah,
Anantapur, Kurnool, Warangal,
