LIBRARY
The Dept., with its
well established library is located in
the Commissionerate at Gunfoundry area,
in the heart of Mega City, Hyderabad.
The first collection of books to Library
has been started in the year 1914 under
the stewardship of Dr.Ghulam Yazdani,
the then Director. From then onwards,
the Dept. played an active role and
conducted several extensive explorations
and excavations. Besides 326 volumes
were acquired for the library by the
Department in the year 1914, of which
267 were received as presents and the
rest were purchased. In this connection,
the Dept. is under a deep debt of
gratitude to R.I.R. Glancy Esq.,
Assistant Minister, Finance Dept.,
through whose kindness several rare
volumes of the Asiatic Researches.
Journal Asiatique, and of the Journals
of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great
Britain and the Asiatic Society of
Bengal were transferred from the Finance
Library to the office of the
Superintendent of Archaeology.
Gradually, the library of the Dept. has
emerged as one of the richest
repositories of rare books of research
value. The library has a collection of
nearly 20,750 books and several

Library's collection by way of purchase,
